The Measure of a Relationship

Standard

This weekend was an intense one for me. I had an opportunity to hide away from the world to focus on my creative writing. In the process of writing, I got to engage in an intense process of self-exploration and self-discovery. One of the things that I really got from this weekend was insight into the health of romantic relationships. It’s easy to like the experience of being in love when things are going well. Yet, the real measure of a relationship is when things fall apart: When the stuff hits the fan, how am I bringing more Love to the situation when all I want to do is run away, cry, and scream my head off?

The strength of a relationship rests, not in who we are at our best, but rather who we are at our worst.
